Out of Sorts

The phrase Out of Sorts goes back to the age of typesetting in the 17th century. Typographers and printers used the word “sorts” to describe the set of letters that they used to print things. They would usually have them in alphabetical order, obviously for ease. But when a letter was out of place, they’d say it was “out of sorts.”This is my sorting box.
